Reseña: El Nombre del Viento

Wind Name

Review Written by: meriadox
Where is the beginning of a story? I think it's a question that left between lines this book, which begins with a man in his tavern, a man who could be anyone, but whose life bears a fascinating history. The protagonist does not know how to begin, perhaps with the creation of world, perhaps with the voice of his mother. Finally opted for what has motivated him to follow the path that has made him famous as a singer, as a hero, a villain. Everything depends on your point of view from which one looks, from the countless stories of others or from their memory. All this is just the beginning.

Raised with traveling artists, the history of Kvothe (pronounced "cuouz" he says) is like any child. Tells us how he sees things, feels like, but life is not simple and circumstances define us. A meeting will then tragedy circumstances coming marked trails early in the life of Kvothe. That and a creative personality, curious and courageous. Do not get me wrong, it is a person as anyone, and history shows that courage is often not nothing but a quick decision at an urgent moment.

magic, called "sympathy" plays an important role in history as essential fiber of the universe that Patrick Rothfuss has created. Not find here the dwarfs and elves of Tolkien, or wands and spells JJ Rowling. The magic is part of the very nature of things and the expertise of the author manages to make us feel comfortable with the idea almost from the beginning. Rothfuss succeeds in creating a flawless prose poetry in the magic of this universe so original.

is certainly a book that will end before they start to wonder what's coming and can not wait for the sequel. This is the first installment of a trilogy that promises many hours of entertainment and as many ideas about life and our decisions. A book recommended for all public lover of fantasy and books that evoke the reflection of ourselves.
