Engineering Student Society Biotechnology (SEIBT) organized the Second Forum on Biotechnology in UPIBI.

Es la aplicación de los procesos biológicos modernos en respuesta a los problemas de contaminación actual, (protegiendo y restaurando la calidad del ambiente). Abarca desde la limpieza de aguas residuales, seguida por la purificación del aire y gases de desecho mediante el uso de biofiltros, pasando por la biorremediación de suelos, hasta la utilización de microorganismos para la generación de biocombustibles. De esta manera, la biotecnología puede ayudar a evaluar el estado de los ecosistemas, generar materiales biodegradables partiendo de recursos renovables, transformar contaminantes en sustancias no tóxicas y desarrollar procesos ambientalmente seguros.
